New Long Distance Running Event Launching in
Seattle, Washington
July 2025

Inspired by non-binary athletes who continue to break through the gender binary barrier in running, the Run Beyond (RUNN+) Marathon will be a new, annual opportunity for participants to run 26.2 miles free of the obstacles that prohibit many from experiencing the positive benefits of running.

The course will offer participants a unique journey through the city and traditional lands of the Coast Salish People, in an event that honors those who have come before us and is committed to preserving the land for generations to come.

The RUNN+ Marathon will redefine what is possible, and prioritize accessibility, inclusion, and community. Representatives from the Seattle-area running clubs and community are invited to serve on a planning committee that will be responsible for developing the inaugural event. The committee will work on solving the obstacles many encounter, such as restrictive, gendered divisions, exclusionary (and unsafe) policies, practices, and spaces, expensive registration fees, lack of access to training and equipment, and underrepresented communities. Interested individuals should inquire through the Contact page.
